Temporary Residence / Permanent Residence - Which Is It To Be? A business may sponsor an overseas employee for a temporary visa for up to four yeas using the Business (Long Stay) Visa, otherwise known as a Subclass 457 Visa. A business may also sponsor an overseas employee for a permanent visa under the Employer Nominated Scheme (ENS) or the Regional Skilled Migration Scheme (RSMS). There are advantages and disadvantages to both schemes. Businesses may sponsor a wider range of skills in regonal Australia than they can in the Metropolitan cities. Regional Australia includes every place except Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong, Melbourne and Perth.
